Happy Summer!

It's 9:00am and the halls are quiet. I'm forever surprised at how quickly a school year can fly by.

As I look around my semi-boxed-up, ready-for-summer-cleaning classroom, it astounds me to think how much learning and growing we did this year together as a team. Through ups and downs, we set goals, celebrated successes, worked hard, had fun, learned and shared some hard lessons, collaborated with our peers, set new standards for ourselves, set out on field trip adventures and truly grew into our roles as " les chevaliers."

I have no doubt that as you continue to grow as learners, and as people, you will achieve many wonderful things. It has been an honour and a pleasure being your teacher. My door will always be open to you for a "Bonjour," a Funky Fish dance break and a high-five celebration.

And, because this blog was created for and truly belongs to you, the students, I am signing off by letting your words share what this year has meant to you. Wishing you all the most wonderful summer!

À la prochaine, mes amis.

💚, Mme Careen

My favourite memory is the AAiM field trip. - Kinley

A memory of this year that I will never forget is at the start of the year, Mme Careen gave us questions to ask every single person in the class and then we had to write their name if they did it. I also will never forget how in June 2022 we got to visit Ness and our classes for the coming year. I thought that Ness was a really big school, but then I realized that my old school was just really small. I think Mme Careen is a great teacher and I will never forget her. - Myla

Qui est l'intrus? (Which one doesn't belong?)

Hello! Happy Thursday!

Today in Math we set out to determine 'which one doesn't belong?'

Let's try one together:

Let's consider each number in the square above. Can you make a case for why each number might not belong?
17: It is the only prime number and the only number smaller than 25.
26: It is the only number with the digit 2.
44: It is the only number with repeated digits and the only number that has a factor of 11.
65: It is the only multiple of 5 and it's the only one where the sum of the digits isn't 8.

What else did you notice? What other reason would a number not belong?

Please ask me about what photos my group had. What did we notice quickly? What took some thinking? Did I work with numbers or pictures? Was one set easier than the other?
