Did you know that there are more than 1 200 people in Winnipeg who do not have a home? The majority are from our indigenous population, with 22% being youth younger than 24 years. Additionally, 2% of this group are part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
École Ness, along with other SJASD schools, is participating in "Socktober and Mittens Month." We are collecting socks, gloves and mittens for Ogijiita Pimatiswin Kinamatwin to help our community members suffering homelessness.
Starting Tuesday, October 11, please bring in your donated items and leave them in the bins outside of the school office. Kid/teen/adult sizes are welcome, and donated items should be new - still in their original packaging/with tags.
Our goal is to collect at least 400 pairs! We only have three weeks, but we know we can meet our goal if we all work together.
